Volvo unveils adventure-oriented EX30 Cross Country
Volvo has unveiled a more rugged iteration of the model. Say hello to the higher, all-wheel drive and visually distinguishable EX30 Cross Country.
“We launched our first Cross Country car over 25 years ago, and this concept of durable and all-weather cars is core to the Volvo brand,” said Jim Rowan, Volvo Cars’ CEO.
“In Sweden, we face harsh winters, but we also like to make the most of them by getting out and exploring our amazing nature, even when it’s -20°C outside. That’s why we want to deliver a fully rounded experience, not simply a car, to our EX30 Cross Country customers.”

With a range of up to 427km on a full charge and the ability to recharge from 10 to 80% in as little as 26 minutes, the EX30 Cross Country remains practical for city use. However, several upgrades make it better suited for venturing beyond urban environments.

The ride height has been increased by 18mm over the standard EX30, making it easier to tackle uneven terrain. Larger wheels with the option of 18-inch all-terrain tyres further improve its ability to handle rough conditions. Standard all-wheel drive enhances traction on slippery surfaces, making it more capable in challenging weather.
Design changes distinguish the EX30 Cross Country from its standard counterpart. Dark grey front and rear body panels add contrast to the exterior, with the front panel featuring a topographic etching of Sweden’s Kebnekaise mountain range. The door panels take inspiration from native Swedish granite, reinforcing the model’s rugged identity.

Volvo has yet to announce pricing or details of availability for global markets but considering the Swedish automaker’s NEV success in South Africa, there is a possibility that the local EX30 range will see the inclusion of this Cross Country variant that will balance everyday usability and off-road capability.
