Ford Transit Custom Sport: Unleash your inner adventurer
The iconic Ford van gets a sporty makeover, blending practicality with head-turning style.

Ford South Africa has expanded its acclaimed Transit Custom range with the dynamic Sport short wheelbase van. This exciting addition injects design and performance flair into the Transit Custom line-up, building on its renowned workhorse capabilities.
“The all-new Transit Custom raised the bar for comfort, safety, technology and versatility in the van segment,” says Sunil Sewmohan, the executive director of product marketing at Ford South Africa. “The Sport version elevates its appeal, offering a unique option for customers who want to stand out from the crowd.”
As Europe’s bestselling one-tonne van and a five-time International Van of the Year winner, including the 2024 title, the Transit Custom’s reputation speaks for itself. The Sport model caters to sole traders, owner-operators and those seeking a spacious and practical vehicle for both work and leisure.
Exterior: A statement of style
The Transit Custom Sport’s short wheelbase, sport body kit, honeycomb grille, rear spoiler and 17-inch matte black alloy wheels with 215/60 R17 tyres create a bold presence. Dual racing stripes across the bonnet, roof and rear barn doors, along with sport side decals, further emphasise its dynamic character. LED headlights with daytime running lights and automatic high beam, plus LED taillights, enhance its sophisticated look.
Interior: Where comfort meets performance
Inside, the Transit Custom Sport creates a refined atmosphere. The driver enjoys a six-way power-adjustable seat with lumbar support, while the passenger seat offers four-way manual adjustment. Both front seats benefit from armrests and heating.
The Sport boasts a 13-inch landscape touchscreen with Ford’s SYNC 4 system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 12-inch instrument cluster with an eight-inch configurable display. USB-A and USB-C ports, a 12-volt socket and dual USB-C charging ports ensure devices stay powered up.
Practicality: Designed for life on the move
Built on a new platform, the Transit Custom Sport offers improved space, a lower floor height for easier loading and a sub-two-metre overall height for access to restricted areas.
The cabin provides ample storage and a clever tilting steering wheel (optional) transforms into a tablet/laptop stand or a flat-topped table, ideal for mobile working or breaks.
The 2 500kg braked trailer tow rating remains unchanged
Twin 180-degree opening rear barn doors and soft-close dual sliding side doors with integrated steps provide easy access to the load compartment. Powered sliding doors operate via the door handles, remote control or dashboard buttons. Six tie-down loops and a load area protection kit are standard along with bright LED interior lighting.
Drivetrain: Performance and efficiency combined
This Transit features an updated 2.0-litre Single Turbo EcoBlue diesel engine, producing 125kW and 390Nm. An eight-speed automatic transmission delivers power to the front wheels, with manual gear selection available. Four selectable drive modes (normal, eco, slippery and tow/haul) are complemented by a Sport mode. A 55-litre fuel tank and a 20-litre AdBlue tank are standard.
Safety and security: Peace of mind as standard
The Transit Custom Sport boasts a comprehensive suite of safety features, including ABS brakes, electronic stability programme with traction control, hill launch assist, and electronic brakeforce distribution to name but a few.
FordPass Connect enables remote locking/unlocking, starting, vehicle location, health alerts and oil life status via the FordPass app.
