New Renault Duster: Redefining adventure travel

The award-winning Renault Duster returns with a bold redesign, advanced technology, and eco-friendly powertrains, setting a new standard for compact SUVs in the SA.

Since its global launch in 2010, the Renault Duster has consistently reshaped the SUV market. With over 2.2 million units sold worldwide and numerous accolades, including being Europe’s best-selling retail SUV in 2022, the Duster’s popularity is undeniable. Now, the third-generation Duster arrives, built on the CMF-B platform, promising a blend of rugged appeal, modern styling, and enhanced technology.

A bold new design and enhanced interior

The new Duster boasts a more muscular and modern design. It features signature Y-shaped LED headlights and taillights, a larger grille with the new Renault logo, and chunky cladding for off-road aesthetics. Modular roof bars add practicality with a 70kg load capacity on the 4WD model.

Inside, the cabin is more spacious and ergonomic, featuring a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The innovative YouClip 3-in-1 system offers modular accessory attachments for enhanced convenience.

Eco-friendly powertrains and advanced technology

The Duster introduces a mild-hybrid powertrain on the 4WD variant, combining a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine with improved fuel efficiency. This model also offers class-leading approach and departure angles for superior off-road capability.

Safety is paramount, with features like six airbags, blind spot detection, tyre pressure monitoring, and an electric parking brake. The Intens EDC 4×2 model includes a hands-free keycard for added convenience.

CMF-B platform: A foundation for innovation

The adaptable CMF-B platform, used in other Renault models like the Clio and Captur, allows for high-efficiency powertrains and improved overall performance. This platform increases passenger and luggage space while minimising noise and vibrations, enhancing driver comfort.

Optimised anti-roll bars, a new electronic management system, and refined damping settings improve the Duster’s dynamic behaviour and stability. The platform also paves the way for electrification, accommodating the mild-hybrid system.

Design that makes a statement

Renault has reimagined the Duster’s design, focusing on simplicity and robustness. The exterior features mass-dyed skid plates and Starkle® material, containing up to 20% recycled content, for increased durability and environmental benefits.

The interior echoes the exterior’s robust character, with a high, vertical dashboard and ergonomic design. Y-shaped air vents and trim elements connect the interior and exterior design cues.

Technology and safety features

The Duster offers a digital and connected cockpit, featuring a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and wireless smartphone connectivity. The 4WD model includes a 4WD monitor for real-time off-road assistance.

Safety features include a multiview camera, tyre pressure detection, and blind spot detection. The YouClip accessory system provides versatile storage options.

Driving dynamics and sustainability

The Duster’s off-road capabilities are enhanced with 4WD Terrain Control, offering five driving modes. A generous 217mm ground clearance and optimised approach and departure angles ensure exceptional off-road performance.

Renault emphasises sustainability with the use of recycled materials and the introduction of the mild-hybrid powertrain. The Duster utilises Starkle® material and eliminates decorative chrome and leather of animal origin.

The mild-hybrid system improves fuel efficiency and reduces CO2 emissions. It features a stop-start function and regenerative braking. The 4×2 EDC models use a 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine with an EDC automatic transmission.

Range and pricing

The new Duster is available in three derivatives: Zen 6MT 4WD Mild Hybrid, Zen EDC 4×2, and Intens EDC 4×2. Prices start from R489 999.

The Zen models feature LED auto headlamps, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, and a reverse camera. The Intens model adds blind spot detection, a multiview camera, wireless charging, and an Arkamys 3D sound system.

Servicing and warranty

The new Renault Duster is backed by a comprehensive warranty and service plan, ensuring peace of mind for SA buyers.
