New Aston Martin Vanquish Volante revealed
Touted as the world’s fastest and most powerful front-engined convertible, Aston Martin has whipped the wraps off the new Vanquish Volante.
Celebrating 60 years of Volante production, Aston Martin has revealed the new Vanquish Volante. Only 1 000 examples, inclusive of the coupé variant, will be produced each year.

With a firing order of 1-7-5-11-3-9-6-12-2-8-4-10, the Vanquish Volante’s 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 produces 614kW and 1 000Nm, exclusively sent to the rear axle via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. Peak power is available from 6 500r/min, while the full complement of torque is on tap as soon as the rev needle edges the 2 500r/min mark.

Weighing 95kg more than the Vanquish, the Vanquish Volante completes the obligatory 0-100km/h sprint in a claimed 3.4s; just one-tenth of a second slower than its coupé counterpart. The top speed is rated at 345km/h.
The Vanquish Volante is brought to a halt by a set of 410mm front/360mm rear carbon-ceramic discs and six-piston fore/four-piston aft alloy callipers, sited behind 21-inch wheels. The forged alloys are wrapped in 275/35- and 325/30-size, front and rear, Pirelli P Zero AML rubber.

Simon Newton, the director of vehicle performance and attributes at Aston Martin, said:
“The drive to ensure Vanquish Volante delivered the same class-leading performance as the Vanquish Coupé meant that […] the engineering team worked on both Coupé and Volante simultaneously, allowing us to retain the dynamic capabilities and character of Vanquish Coupe with no compromise upon removing the roof.”
The drop-top Vanquish’s suspension has been so designed to account for its ‘unique’ weight distribution, the automaker said. The Volante model further gains new Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers.
