A 1st look at the 2025 Corvette Stingray in SA

With jaw-dropping acceleration, striking styling and the promise of track-ready performance, the Corvette Stingray is set to turn plenty of heads on local roads.

Now available in (factory-built) right-hand drive, the Corvette Stingray recently arrived in South Africa. CAR Editor Ian McLaren highlights what you can expect from this mid-engined American performance car.

Priced from R3.7m, the Corvette Stingray package ships with the automaker’s Z51 performance package as standard (see full pricing and specs here). Available in coupé and convertible (seen here) body styles, the Corvette Stingray employs a 6.2l V8. Mounted midships, the naturally aspirated petrol unit produces 369kW and 637N.m, exclusively delivered to the road via the rear wheels. According to the US brand, these figures allow the Corvette Stingray to dispatch the 0-100km/h dash in 3.5 seconds.

However, this isn’t the only engine option on offer. Indeed, another derivative is available in our market, and it comes in the shape of the Z06, which is priced from R7.5m. Spearheading the lineup, this model is equipped with a 5.5l atmospheric V8, which churns out 475kW and 595N.m of torque for a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of three seconds.
