International fame for local girl

A girl from Olympus stunned international agents and management during a recent international talent convention.

Janike Joubert (9) from Olympus performed well at the December international Actors, Models and Talent for Christ (AMTC) convention in Florida, United States of America.

Joubert, who attends Laerskool Tygerpoort, was part of a group of more than 20 South African youngsters who participated in the annual AMTC Shine Winter 2015 convention. The event is a biannual talent occasion held in Orlando and attended by actors, models, singers, dancers and comedians from all over the world. It was established in 1982.

According to Joubert’s mother, Adri, she took part in various categories, including on-camera, scene read, photography, modelling, product endorsement and individual improvisation.

“She received personal call-backs from JoAnn Smolen, from Treehouse entertainment group, Harold Cronk, from 10 West Studios and April Baker, from Stagecoach Entertainment. April Baker has invited Janike to visit her Los Angeles-based agency in March/April this year for meetings with other agents while Harold Cronk showed interest in using her in his next production,” a proud Adri said.

“During the final AMTC Awards Ceremony, Janike also received third place for overall child female model. She also performed in the acting finale for the category, on-camera.”
