Two women shot during hijacking

One woman was found about seven hundred metres down the road, lying in the veld in a serious condition.

Two women were injured, one seriously, following a shooting during a hijacking in Pretoria.

Netcare 911 emergency services spokesperson Chris Botha said his paramedics responded to a shooting incident at about 2am on Saturday, Rekord East reported.

“Reports from the scene indicated that the two females were travelling when unknown people tried to hijack them.”

“Exact details to the incident will, however, form part of the police investigation,” Botha said.

This comes despite police confirming that the vehicle was stolen.

Police spokesperson Constable Zanele Mtsweni said a case of hijacking and attempted murder was being investigated.

“A black Opel Corsa Lite was stolen,” Mtsweni said.

He said when paramedics arrived at the scene, the driver was lying on the ground next to the vehicle with a life-threatening gunshot wound.

“The female passenger was found about seven hundred metres down the road, in the veld in a serious condition.”

“Paramedics worked fervently at the scene to stabilise her before they transported both patients to hospital for further medical care.”
