Mayor robbed at gunpoint

The mayor was threatened at gunpoint before being kidnapped.


The mayor of JS Moroka Municipality in Mpumalanga, Gijimani Jim Skosana, was robbed at gunpoint by four unknown suspects at his Siyabuswa home last night at about 11.20pm, Mpumalanga News reports.

According to police, he was about to lock the gate when the suspects accosted him, forced him to go inside the house.

“The miscreants allegedly threatened him with a firearm, forced him into the house and took a plasma screen,” said the police.

The suspects took a television set and loaded it into his Golf 6 GTI and took him with. He was dropped off at Kwaggafontein A.

“After taking some of his personal belongings, he immediately asked for help from the community, and the police were called,” added the police.

The vehicle was later found abandoned at Kwaggafontein A.

Police are investigating a case of kidnapping and house robbery.
