High-speed chase leads to one death and three arrests
Three suspects were arrested, one managed to flee on foot while the other was declared dead on the scene.

A high-speed chase and shootout between the police and suspects in Florida, Roodepoort, have led to one death and the arrest of three suspects.
The South African Police Service’s Sophiatown members were on patrol on Sunday evening when they came across a suspicious maroon Audi Q5 in Westbury.
Police say that when the occupants in the Audi noticed them, one of them opened fire, unprovoked, at the police while the driver sped off.
Police pursued the suspects with a high-speed chase ending at the corner of Nadine and Albertina Sisulu in Florida.
The Audi came to a stop after a tyre burst. The suspects tried to shoot their way out, but the police retaliated.
Three suspects were arrested; one managed to flee on foot while the other was declared dead on the scene.
Saps members escaped the incident unharmed.
The police confiscated a firearm which was later discovered to have been stolen in De Deur this year in January.
“It will be sent for ballistic tests at the Forensic Science Laboratory to determine whether it has been used in other violent crimes,” said police in a statement.
The arrested suspects will be subjected to profiling to determine whether they have been involved in other serious and violent crimes.
They will appear before the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 3 May 2022, on attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
