5 places to take your kids that won’t break the bank

January is upon us, and depending on how fun your December was, you might be running a bit low on cash. As a parent, you know your children do not understand the concept of ‘broke’. And they would still like to be entertained. So, below is a list of places you can take your children without affecting your bank account too much.

World’s View, Northcliff

This spot is one of the hidden gems of Johannesburg North. If your children are not afraid of heights, they will enjoy the thrill of enjoying one of the most magnificent views in Johannesburg. The entrance to this spot is free of charge and you can bring along some snacks, chill on the benches and enjoy the world’s view. Even Pietermaritzburg has a World’s View which is scenic and breathtaking.

Kanu Wines, Stellenbosch

Before you think we are trying to get your kids to drink, this relaunched venue has some fun activities for kiddies as well. The children can play putt putt for R30. All this while the adults have some wine tasting for R50. The family can also go mountain biking, hiking, fishing or bird watching.

Museum Africa

Kloofendal Nature Reserve

This is the perfect hiking and picnic spot for the whole family. The trails are short and scenic. There is also a trail that gives details on different plants that the kids will enjoy. It’s also free!

Zoos or aquariums

Our country has amazing zoos and aquariums that the kids can go visit, and entrance fees usually don’t break the bank. uShaka Marine World, Monte Casino bird park, Two Oceans Aquarium, Joburg Zoo, Pretoria Zoo, and Lory Park are among some of the amazing spots open for access.
