Collision causes Ford to catch fire in Pretoria

According to witnesses, the car was parked along the N4 near the shopping centre.

It appears that a collision on Solomon Mahlangu Drive on Monday morning caused the blue Ford Eco Sport to burst into flames.

Following an earlier report in which it was reported that the car was seen burning from the front, on Monday afternoon it came to light that according to a witness as well as another source, the vehicle had been involved in a collision, and then soon after, the fire started.

According to the Pretoria East Rekord, the witness said the driver managed to get out of the vehicle just before it was engulfed in flames.

The photographs of the burnt-out vehicle have been posted on social media.

A car caught fire along Solomon Mahlangu Drive in Pretoria on Monday.

It is not clear if the car, a blue Ford EcoSport, which could be seen burning from the front, was involved in an accident or just caught fire on its own, Rekord East reported.

According to witnesses, the car is parked along the N4, near the Silver Lakes shopping centre.

This comes amid the ongoing recall of cars by Ford following a bunch of Ford Kugas catching fire last year.

No comment was received from Tshwane Emergency Services at the time of going to press.

Witnesses on the scene, however, say the fire had been put out.
