Full day of Zwartkops racing

The Zwartkops Raceway near Pretoria will host a full regional championship programme on Saturday with 13 racing categories set to tackle a total of 25 races on four and two wheels.


Top billing will go to two races for Imperial Mitsubishi Super Saloon Cars with front runners drivers like Franco di Mattheo (Varta Batteries Ford Mustang), Terry Wilford (Fuchs Ford Mustang), Carl Nel (Jaguar XKR), Matty Martins (Jaguar Supercar), Amos Cockeram (Tigra Rotary) and Ralph Kernes (Mitsubishi Evo Turbo).

The Goldwagen Superhatch races should also provide top spectacle with a 35 cars grid.

Other top drivers will include Mark du Toit (Honda Civic), Hilton van Nieuwenhuizen (Peugeot 206), Brett Garland (Honda Civic), Melanie Spurr (Opel Corsa) and Chris Davison (Opel Superboss) in Class A.

Those to beat in Class B should be Gerhard Henning (VW Golf), Morne Human (Ford Fiesta) and Jono Konig (VW Golf).

The Spitronics Silvercup category will have a 30 car line-up. Front runners in the Prototype class should be Rinus Plom (Subaru STI), Johann Snyman (Lotus Elise) and Freek Blignaut Jnr (Mazda MPC).

Class A will see Nico Fourie (Toyota Conquest), Adrian Dalton (VW Golf), Wiekie Luwes (Mazda RX7), Ryan Zwankhuizen (Mazda Spaceframe), Johan Krynauw (Ford Fiesta) and Wayne Lebotshy (VW Golf) locking horns.

The day’s quickest lap time should come from the 250 Superkart brigade at around 62 seconds. Drivers like Vernon Pappas, Craig Collier and Tyron Davis will be chasing for victory.

The Comsol VW Challenge will see drivers like Elna Croeser (Giulio Sabatini Polo), Andy Gossman (Marty’s Body Golf|), Gerhard Henning (Goldwagen Roodepoort Polo), Waldie Meintjies (Performance Masters Polo), Derick Smalberger (Sabertek Beetle), Carlos Nobre (VW Golf), Darren Nathan (Sex Trader Polo) and Henry van Vledder (Stuffall Golf) fighting for the top championship positions.

The Inex Legends category will have a field of 15 entries with top drivers like Devin Robertson and di Matteo in action.

The motorcycle category will see the TK Imports Brunch Run Challenge and TK Imports Thunderbike classes in action. The Brunch Run category is an entry level for superbike riders and provides great action with a 37 bike grid.

Leading the Brunch Run championship is Wendy Odendaal, closely followed by Craig Luck and Cassie Annendale.

In the Thunderbike challenge youngster Anthony Shelley on his Kawasaki ZX6 will face off against riders like Richard Carmody (Kawasaki ZX10R) and Teddy Brooke (Honda CBR1000). Tickets will be sold at the gate at R60 per adult and R40 per student.
