SA Legends team to Vegas

A team of six South African drivers will tackle the 2013 Legends World championship meeting in Las Vegas this weekend.

The group will be led by inaugural local Legends champion Devin Robertson, who dominated the category’s first official South African series on both long and oval circuits.

He will be joined by V8 supercar ace Franco di Matteo, with both drivers contesting the top Pro division of the championship, which will be contested by drivers from around the world.

Youngsters Shaun Nel and Willie Erasmus will race in the Semi-pro division, while old-timers Roelf du Plessis and Steve Nel will be entered in the Masters’ division. The drivers will hire cars in the US and will get to experience the international series for the first time.

It will be a learning experience for the whole team and they are all confident that they should be able to show how the local Legend series is growing and the type of competitive racing they are used to.

Legend cars are all built to a standard specification and run to the same set of rules in every country that they are raced in worldwide, which makes an event like this possible.
