LISTEN: EFF drops elections campaign Gqom song

The song features TV and radio personality Ntando Duma and Kwaito group Alaska.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) released an election campaign song on Friday amid the party’s social media elections campaign dubbed Red Friday.

Listen to the song:

The social media campaign sees EFF supporters post pictures of themselves dressed in red or the party’s regalia onto social media and tagging the red berets’ social media handles.

The EFF election campaign Gqom song features singer TV and radio personality Ntando Duma and Kwaito group Alaska.

EFF leader Julius Malema ’s speech at Winnie Madikizela Mandela’s funeral is sampled in the song titled Signal.

During his speech at the funeral, Malema at several points throughout the speech asked Madikizela-Mandela for a signal on what to do about the issues Malema found pressing and the people who “betrayed” her, and punctuated his speech by calling out to the struggle stalwart as “mama”.

Duma sings in IsiZulu, asking that “mama” should be told that land, work, and education is what they want.

In January this year, Duma denied her support for the EFF after posting an image of herself wearing a doek featuring the party’s branding.

In an interview with Isolezwe, Duma said there was no political party she would openly say she supported.
