Kidnapped woman left in plantations near White River, Mpumalanga

The victim was raped, threatened to be killed and left in the plantations.

White River police are investigating cases of house robbery, theft and rape following the kidnapping of a woman from Msholozi, Mpumalanga News reports.

It is alleged that two unknown men broke into the victim’s house at section C late on Monday evening. They covered her face and tied her with ropes, making demands of R20 000 in the process.

The woman apparently told them she had no money other than the R200 in her wallet. The men forced her into her car and drove away with her.

“The two men apparently picked up another man and drove to the LT plantations known as Kamaphazimane. There she was raped and threatened to be killed, then was left in the dark plantations,” said a close relative, who cannot be named to protect the victim’s identity.

She added that after her attackers left, she was able to untie herself, walked in the dark until she reached a house in the compound. There she retold the events, and police were called.

Police spokesperson Col Mtsholi Bhembe confirmed the incident. He said the victim’s cellphone, cash and vehicle were stolen. “No arrest has been made so far. The victim’s vehicle, a Suzuki Calerio with registration numbers DKZ 077 L, is still missing.”

Anyone with information that may lead to the arrests of the perpetrators may call the acting station commander WO Timothy Shabangu on 071-881-8682.
