Mpumalanga municipal manager allegedly assaulted and instructed to leave his office

Tempers ran high in the Govan Mbeki Municipal manager’s office on Friday, 5 January.


Mpumalanga acting municipal manager Thisha Mhlanga was allegedly assaulted and instructed to leave his office by members of a controversial business forum.

It is unclear what instigated the conflict, but a reliable source told the Ridge Times that the forum is not happy with Mhlanga’s way of doing business and that he was refusing to sign certain documents.

The source also revealed the issues included that money was allegedly used to fund projects in December without proper procedures being followed.

Senior politicians and officials are allegedly implicated in the matter. Police are still busy with statements regarding the matter, with more details to follow once this process is completed.
