Revolutionising the kitchen, humans have taken the function of the microwave and exercised their creativity to create yummy and unexpected dishes:

Poached eggs: Not everybody can perfect the poach egg but the microwave can do it for you in a flash. All you need is a microwave-safe bowl, hot water, and a little salt and vinegar (and, of course, an egg).  Slowly break an egg into the bowl right in front of the open microwave door. Then set the microwave on high for 2.5-3 minutes (depending on how hot the water is) and then in a flash you have a poached egg.

Cake in a mug: You know about this trick but too scared to try it. Don’t worry, it’s actually delicious. Just grab these ingredients for a yummy chocolate mocha cake

  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ tablespoon cocoa powder
  • ⅛ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Optional: powdered sugar for sprinkling on top
  1. Whisk together all of the dry ingredients in a medium microwave safe mug.
  2. Add the wet ingredients and use a fork or a small whisk to mix until the batter is smooth.
  3. Cook in the microwave for 1 minute. If the cake is not done, heat an additional 15 seconds. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
