Man burnt to death in Atteridgeville

The man was taken to Kalafong Hospital by an ambulance, and he later died.

A 22-year-old-man was burnt to death this week on Monday night in Atteridgeville at Phomolong Taxi Rank, Maunde Street.

According to Captain Thomas Mufumadi of Attridgeville Police Station, they received a complaint of mob justice around that area.

Mufumadi said on the arrival of police, they found a man burning, and they managed to rescue him. “He was taken to Kalafong Hospital by an ambulance with burned wounds, and he later died,” he said.

He added they urged and appealed to the members of the public not to take law into their own hands.

“To report any illegal activities to police, if they don’t get any satisfaction from station management they need to escalate their concerns to the cluster commander,” Mufumadi said.

He continued to say that a motive for such cruel act was unknown at that stage.

“A case of attempted murder is open for further investigation. No one is arrested,” he said.

He concluded by saying their investigations would tell them if the man had a family around Pretoria or not.
