Thandi Modise to replace Mahumapelo as North West premier?
Mahumapelo has apparently agreed to resign, but he wants to keep his position as ANC chairperson in the province.

Former North West premier Thandi Modise is reportedly being touted as a possible replacement for embattled premier Supra Mahumapelo, Sunday Times reports.
Modise, the chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, is said to be the favourite to replace Mahumapelo after she was reportedly approached to go back to her old job.
However, ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule dismissed talk about Modise’s return as a rumour.
According to the report, Mahumapelo has agreed to resign during a meeting with President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday, but he has vowed to fight to stay ANC chairperson in the province.
Ramaphosa is reportedly pushing for Mahumapelo to step down as ANC North West chairperson and to dissolve his provincial executive committee.
“Supra is going to fight tooth and nail to remain as provincial chairperson because without this position he is naked and vulnerable,” a senior source with knowledge of the matter was quoted as saying.
Violent protests erupted in the North West last month by residents calling for the premier to step down after complaining about service delivery failures and accused his administration of corruption.
