WATCH: Drag racer loses leg after horrific crash
WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES. The video shows two cars in a head-to-head race before one of them crashes.
According to motorsport Facebook group Dalaucrew, which shared images of the accident, the driver of a BMW that crashed had his leg amputated. Images of the driver show that he is in a critical condition after the accident. He has since received support from people on social media wishing him a speedy recovery.
The two vehicles were said to be racing on the N1 in Cape Town. Things turn south when one of the drivers loses control of his vehicle and crashes after an attempt to overtake the other vehicle.
Witnesses on a bridge can be heard screaming in disbelief after the BMW disappears under the bridge following the loud crash. Images of the accident show the motorist in a bad state.
