WATCH: Torrential weather causes mayhem across Durban South

Durban South residents are warned to stay off roads as rain wreaks havoc.

Montclair resident in KwaZulu-Natal, Hlengiwe Msibi, has given an account of the weather on Tuesday morning.

On Facebook Live, she recorded the torrential weather that is currently bashing Wentworth and Tara roads, which are known for flooding when heavy rains occur, Southlands Sun reports.

“It’s very bad. Trees are falling, Tara Road is flooded. We can’t leave our workplace, so we are trapped here. My children are at school now, and I can’t get a hold of the school to check on them.

“I advise everyone to stay indoors. I’m afraid of what my home in Montclair will look like after this storm has passed,” Hlengiwe said.

In other places, taxis have been stuck on the N2 freeway just after Galleria Mall, forcing passengers to brave the elements in an attempt to reach the safety of the paramedic vans.

Homes are reported to be flooded in Durban South as paramedics work against the weather to get the affected families to safety.
