No more mahala toll roads
Toll fees on the N2 uThongati south ramps will remain suspended however until access along the M4 uThongati River bridge has been restored.
The South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) has announced that motorists will have to once again start paying toll fees at the Uthongathi and Umvoti toll plazas from the beginning of next month.
While Sanral is yet to provide more information, it is believed toll fees on most ramps at these plazas will be payable with effect from February 1.
While toll collection will resume on the N2 uThongati mainline and north ramps and N2 uMvoti mainline, toll fees on the N2 uThongati south ramps will remain suspended until access along the M4 uThongati River bridge has been restored.
Sanral suspended toll fees last April to ease the economic burden on communities impacted by the devastating floods that swept through KZN and subsequent road closures.
“Our contractors have been working round the clock to repair damaged infrastructure and restore access to the R102 and M4. Both these roads are now fully open to traffic and access to the uThongathi River bridge is imminent. We wish to thank road users for their patience during this time,” said Sanral Eastern Region manager, Dumisani Nkabinde.
