A day to remember at the Ballito Lions Club

The 60 Osizweni Primary pupils had a great time at Townsend Park last week.

It was all fun and games for Osizweni Primary School pupils at the Ballito Lions Club fun day on Sunday.

The 60 pupils had a great time at Townsend Park when they played soccer, netball and enjoyed a jumping castle.

KwaDukuza senior firefighter, Khetha Mavudla, became the kids’ favourite because he was the uncle behind the fire engine, making foam and spraying them with water.

Firefighters also educated the pupils on how to deal with fire and gave them tips on how to prevent fire at school and at their homes.

Lion’s project director Paul Naidoo said they hosted a fun day for school pupils from the rural and township areas every three months.

“This time we chosen Osizweni from Upper Tongaat and gave them breakfast and lunch. We have been running such programmes for the past five years,” said Naidoo.

Teacher, Busi Nkwanyana, thanked the Lions for the fun day and said it was an unforgettable experience for the pupils.

“Most of the children comes from disadvantaged homes and such treats are just a dream. Joy was written on their face and it was just priceless and we really appreciate this initiative,” said Nkwanyana.
