Ballito resident Wendy Loker Illing organised the quirky party after realising just how many Wendys there were on the Dolphin Coast.
“When I first came to Ballito in 2010, the first bridge club I joined had eight members named Wendy. I just seemed to meet them everywhere I went.
“Four Wendys do aqua class at the gym and sometimes we all stand together for fun,” said Wendy.
“We have been talking about having a Wendy party for years and now it has happened. We had a lovely time and the ladies were thrilled that every place had a “Wendy” name tag on it!”
She has also started a Wendy WhatsApp group with 44 Wendys.
The name was popularized by the character Wendy Darling from the 1904 play Peter Pan and its 1911 novelization Peter and Wendy by J. M. Barrie.
