About 120 people attended the prestigious Miss Ballito cocktail evening at the McCarthy Toyota showrooms on Thursday, where finalists presented themselves and their sponsors to the public.
Miss Ballito is a Zimbali Rotary initiative aimed at empowering young women, raising funds for charity and uplifting the less fortunate.

Event co-ordinator Heidie Smith said finalists have the opportunity of taking part in a mentorship programme where workshops and community days are organised.
“Topics include finance management, life coaching, social media etiquette, nutrition and health, self-defence and self-love.
“They get involved in charitable projects and learn about our community and where they can be of benefit.
“They take part in photo shoots, community events and seek out sponsors to contribute to various charities,” said Smith.

Funds raised go to Rotary approved charities, including The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund, and from its inception in 2011 over R600 000 has been allocated to different charities.
“Miss Ballito is a brand that has grown from strength to strength and every year we are amazed, grateful and proud of what our young ladies have accomplished and how they continue to grow and make a difference even when their Miss Ballito Journey is long over,” said Smith.
