Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High School (GHS) provides girls from Grade 8 to Grade 12 with a dynamic learning environment in which they can thrive.
GHS is a proudly South African school, led by highly-qualified and dedicated teachers who guide the pupils in maintaining a balance between their academic, sporting and cultural endeavours.
Pupils are hard-working, committed and interested in holistic development and face every challenge with integrity.
The school’s reputation for academic excellence, sport prowess and a rich cultural heritage has left its mark on the province and is recognised nationally.
The boarding establishment, now in the original Victorian school building, houses girls who thrive under the supervision of dedicated live-in housemothers and boarder mistresses who uphold the school’s values outside of school hours.
The junior phase dormitories are shared, while senior phase girls share cubicles which each host two girls; providing opportunities for boarders to make friendships that last a lifetime.
Matrics have their own rooms in their own wing – an acknowledgement of their achievements.
There are three lounges, homework areas, a sick bay with two full-time nursing sisters, computer rooms, Wi-Fi connectivity, solar power and a sunny dining area.
There is also a vast expanse of land that the boarding facility overlooks, fondly known as the BE Park, where girls are able to enjoy time outside.
