A 37-year-old man from Tshawini near Stanger was recently sentenced by the Durban High Court to life imprisonment for murder and 15 years for business robbery.
Luthando Mnyamana killed Mzwandile Dimane (32) at his tuck shop in Tshawini in January. He held Dimane at gunpoint and took money, cigarettes and airtime.
He was arrested in Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape where he was hiding.

During the court proceedings, it appeared that previously the two were involved in a fight and Mnyamana was defeated and he did not take it well. He planned to attack Dimane at his tuck-shop.
The KwaZulu-Natal acting provincial commissioner, major general Bheki Langa, praised the investigating team for making sure that Mnyamana is locked behind bars.
“This sentence will also serve as a warning to all those who are taking the law into their own hands, that crime does not pay.”
