North Coast riders make KZN team

A total of six children from the North Coast, three from Crawford College and three from Ashton International College, have been chosen for the KZN team.

South African National Equestrian Schools Association (SANESA) released their final list of riders who will be representing KZN at the Core League National Champs with North Coast schools’ senior riders snatching up a few of the positions.

A total of six children from the North Coast, three from Crawford College and three from Ashton International College, have been chosen for the KZN team.

SANESA is acknowledged by the South African Equestrian Federation (SAEF) and SASCOC which dedicate themselves to promoting all forms of equestrian sport within South Africa. Members of SANESA, the schools, are represented by their pupils.

Each rider competed in a series of five multi-disipline SANESA horse riding shows throughout the year across KZN where they accumulated points on the leader board.

Riders had to place within the top eight of each riding discipline to qualify for the KZN team of that discipline.

The riders competed in their last inter schools qualifying show at Dolcoed in the Midlands in the last week of August.

Tanner Carlisle of Crawford College, gave the most impressive performance securing himself a place on the A team of five equestrian competition disciplines – equitation, performance riding, working hunter, working rider and jumping.

Other Crawford College students doing their school proud were Sarah Ihlenfeldt grabbing a place on the performance riding and prix caprilli A teams and Paige Christi Karla securing her place in the B team for jumping.

Sabrina Poppmeier is Ashton International College’s super star making it onto the A teams of three disciplines, equitation, dressage and jumping, and the B team for working hunter.

Anne Isaacs was placed in the A team for equitation and B team for performance riding, working hunter and jumping.

Last but not least, Gwendolyn Isaacs has taken a place on the A team for working rider and jumping and the B team for equitation and performance riding.

The KZN teams will be competing in Pretoria at the beginning of October.
