Get to know the ocean
Join Tidal Tao in the first coastal conservation and data monitoring meeting.

If you want to get involved in protecting our coastline, then you can join Tidal Tao tonight for their first Coastal Conservation, Data Collection and Monitoring Planning Meeting.
Gathering data on our coastal biodiversity is extremely important and we have no idea how life down in the rock or tidal pools are, whether it is being threatened or not.
The idea of Tidal Tao’s meeting is to set up a regular monitoring program in the six key locations (tidal pools/rock pools) where they know that there is significant coral growth and marine life between Ballito and Sheffield.
This will involve being divided into “teams” and allocating each team a specific rock pool or tidal pool to gather information from during specific periods on a spring low tide weekend which will be once or twice a month.
Those who join will help to clean up the coral and other sea sponges from discarded fishing gear and other litter.
If you are interested or want to help with equipment, join Tidal Tao at the meeting tonight at the Salt Rock Library at 6.30pm.
Please bring a notebook and drinks for yourself.
