Barrington Estate supports UIP

Even holidaymakers were happy to pay more in support of improvements.

Concerned about the deterioration of Ballito’s infrastructure, the Barrington Estate body corporate have thrown their full support behind the Ballito Urban Improvement Project (UIP) by making a R10 000 donation to the project.

Chairman, Paul Theron said the body corporate and owners worked very hard to maintain the high living standards of Barrington Estate but was deeply concerned about the worsening state of the promenade, in particular.

Theron said he believed that the Ballito UIP could be just as successful as the Umhlanga UIP and he hopes their action will start a movement among other body corporates to support the project.

Theron said absent owners who only come to Ballito on holiday were happy to pay a little extra if it meant improving things and even called for more money to be donated.

Board of trustees member and former chairman, Willem Davis said the R10 000 donation amounted to a R70.20 contribution per owner.

“That is the price of a hamburger!” he said.

The Ballito UIP currently only includes commercial areas and a section of the boardwalk and the Ilembe Chamber CEO, Cobus Oelofse welcomed the donation as a positive step in the right direction from the residential sector of Ballito.
