Hundreds attend memorial service for Shaka’s Head victims

Families and friends attend a memorial service for 16 victims.

The memorial service for the 16 people who died in Shaka’s Head on Monday afternoon took place at the Groutville sport grounds on Thursday afternoon.

The MEC for transport Willies Mchunu promised that the investigation into the accident may be finished by the end of next week.

“For now we can say that the taxi did not stop at the stop sign and that he was driving at quite a speed,” said Mchunu.

The families will be assisted through the Road Accident Fund.

The Dolphin Coast taxi association provided free transport for the community who attended the memorial service.
