Community protest outside local court
Angry Etete residents do not want accused to get bail.
Community members of Etete protested outside Umhlali court on Monday, opposing bail for the man accused of raping a five-year-old girl who later died.
Residents were very angry, claiming that the accused was swearing at them on his way to court from the Umhlali cells.
“What frustrate us more is the reaction of the police, instead of telling him to stop they were just laughing,” said one community member.
The child’s uncle Bonangaye Mngomezulu thanked the community for the support during this difficult time.
It will be remembered that after the girl was raped and killed the community of Etete protested and asked some residents that they were accused of selling drugs to move out of their township.
Chairperson of the community policing forum, Bongumusa Mkhize said they will attend the court case until the end.
The case was postponed until Wednesday, August 26 at the KwaDukuza magistrate court.
