Police nab five wanted criminals

Arrests made in Umlazi and Point area in Durban.

Umhlali’s K9 Unit was part of a police operation over the weekend where five wanted criminals were arrested for charges from drug possession to car hijacking.

In Umlazi, police arrested a 28-year-old who was found to be in possession of 494 straws of heroin, 15 mandrax tablets and a laptop.

He will appear in the Umlazi Magistrates Court on Monday.

During the same operation police arrested two men who were wanted in connection with car hijackings in KwaMakhutha.

Another was arrested in Mayville for car hijacking and two VW Polo car keys and three cellphones were recovered.

The suspects were charged for car hijacking and are expected to appear in the Umbumbulu Magistrates’ Court today.

Another operation by the Durban Flying Squad Narcotics Team was conducted in the Point area in Durban and a 30-year-old male was charged for possession of drugs after heroin straws to the value of R5000 and R270 cash suspected to be for trading drugs was found.

He will appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court today.
