Bus boss must pay up

Shaun Duminy launches sequestration application against Mandla Gcaba.

Ballito SMD Group franchise director Shaun Duminy has launched a high court application to sequestrate the estate of Durban bus company boss Mandla Gcaba.

Duminy, who sells Land Rover, Ford and luxury sports cars from his dealership in the Ballito Business Park, stated in his application that Gcaba owes him R14.5 million.

Gcaba said he will oppose the application.

Gcaba bought several vehicles from Duminy’s Ballito-based SMD Trading and also borrowed money from Duminy to pay off debts.

The two had an agreement to settle the loans, but the cheques issued by Gcaba’s company Tansnat Durban, were unpaid and returned.

According to Duminy not a single payment has been made since.

While Duminy has launched a second application to liquidate another company owned by Gcaba, the Ethekwini municipality also brought an application to liquidate Tansnat as it alleges they are owed R40 million.
