Weekend crime report

A handful of robberies were reported this weekend.

Umhlali SAPS attended the following crimes last weekend.

On Friday items valued at R47 000 were stolen out of a Toyota Hilux parked at Kayalami Park in Ballito. The owner was shocked to discover that a laptop, camera and GoPro Hero had been taken from his car.

A school pupil in Shakaskraal was robbed on Friday when his cell phone was stolen.

On Friday a shop at a farm in Upper Tongaat was broken into. Items valued at R3000 were stolen.

A girl was stabbed inside a classroom at Qoqulwazi Secondary School on Friday. It appears that she had accused another pupil of stealing her calculator, at which the girl who had been accused went home to fetch a knife, came back and stabbed her. She was taken to Ballito clinic.

On Saturday morning a man was stabbed and robbed near Shayamoya Hall. He was walking to the train station when he was approached by a group of men. One of them stabbed him in his back and they took his money, lunch box and cellphone.

Four businesses were robbed in Shaka’s Head on Saturday at midnight and two people were shot. Items like airtime, cigarettes, cellphones and money were taken.

A store in Driefontein was broken into on Sunday and items valued at R4700 were stolen.

A man was assaulted in the Umthombisi area, Upper Tongaat. He was assaulted by a group of people accusing him of stealing tyres. He sustained serious injuries to the head.
