Tongaat SAPS arrest three after high speed car chase
The alleged hijackers threw their weapons and gloves out of the car while being chased.
Tongaat SAPS arrested three alleged car hijackers and thieves after a high speed car chase on the M4 near Sibaya on Wednesday.
According to Tongaat SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Manisha Maharaj-Marie, their crime prevention members recognised the white Toyota Corolla as a vehicle which has been used in previous crimes.
“The vehicle was seen on South Beach Road, La Mercy and signalled to stop. The car sped away and our officers chased after them down the M4. The suspects started throwing their firearms and gloves out of the car.”
She said Tongaat SAPS managed to stop them between Sibaya and Umhlanga and arrested the three men.
“It is believed that these three men were involved in car jacking and theft cases in the beach area,” said Maharaj-Marie.
