While we all love hot, humid days at the beach and in the pool, sleeping in sweaty, summer nights is not so great.
Here are five easy and cheap ways to sleep sweet, not sweaty:
1. Chill your tootsies
It is no secret that a cool body needs cool feet, so dunk them in a bowl of cold water before going to bed.
Keep the bowl close, should you need a midnight toe chill.
2. Cool your room
Hang a wet sheet in front of an open window. The breeze blowing in will quickly decrease the room’s temperature.
3. Sleep the Egyptian way
Egyptians know how to handle some serious heat.
They dampen a sheet or towel in cool water and use it as a blanket.
TIP: Put a dry towel on the mattress to avoid soaking it.
4. Freeze the sheets
Put your sheets in a packet and leave it in the freezer for a little while before bedtime.
Take them out just before you crawl into bed and enjoy the chilled sheets.
5. DIY aircon
No aircon? No problem.
Make your own with a mixing bowl or roasting pan, ice and a fan.
Fill the bowl with ice cubes and place it in front of the fan.
The breeze will pick up the cold water from the ice’s surface as it melts, creating a cooling mist.
