Street Party kicks off 2016 with a bang

A crowd of more than 5000 party people surged into Ballito on December 31 for the much anticipated New Year’s Eve Street Party, which celebrated its 11th year with explosive style.

With a line-up of world renowned DJs and an epic main stage that rivals international festivals, amped party-goers filled the event area in the lower village and buzzed with excitement as they bounced to the electric sounds of musical giants such as Veranda Panda, Das Kapital, Pascal & Pearce and the internationally acclaimed duo, Goldfish.

Event organiser, Brendon Keane from G&G Productions said that months of planning went into the event and he was thrilled to see it become such a success.

“We partnered up with Reds Cider and Shap Shap Crafted Cider to produce the best Ballito Street Party yet, with a large portion of our budget going on the stage, lights, smoke machines and lasers to wow the crowd,” said Keane.

It is without doubt that the sensational line-up of artists played a large role in attracting people to the event.

Keane said that their choice of artists and the way the event was set up was engineered to draw a slightly older crowd. People aged from 18 to 50 were alive with the party spirit and as headliners Goldfish came onto stage, the venue erupted.

Locals and holidaymakers alike were dazzled by a kaleidoscope of colour in the form of swirling light displays while they danced to the sound of the new year.

As the countdown to midnight began, the crowd were fed the tunes they had been craving all night long and as 2016 arrived they were greeted by the rippling of fireworks bursting brightly high above.

The atmosphere was as electric as it was chilled, as perfect strangers embraced each other with new year wishes.

At the end of their set, Goldfish DJ Dominic Peters said that playing at the Street Party was really cool.

“It was great to see the Ballito crowd really turn up for the party!” said Peters.

DJ Royal K closed the dancefloor at 3am with a killer set that left the crowd alive with a desire for more in an epic New Year’s Eve 2015.
