Ilembe’s top five matrics score 36 A’s
Consistent hard work was the key to their success.
Through hard work, dedication and with the support of excellent teachers and parents, the Ilembe district’s top five achievers rose to the challenge and are now celebrating outstanding results.
The top five achievers in the district, Jisheel Kanaye, Desilan Govender, Nokubonga Joy Mkhwanazi, Adnaan Kazi and Sindiswa Khuzwayo achieved a combined 36 A symbols. Kanaye is the district’s top achiever with eight distinctions followed by Govender, Mkhwanazi, Kazi and Sindiswa all with seven distinctions.
Fifth placed Khuzwayo matriculated from Udumo High School in Mandeni while the other four are all from Stanger Manor Secondary School.
The top two achievers, Kanaye and Govender are both planning to study medicine and attributed their success to consistent hard work, support at home and dedicated teachers who go the extra mile.
“I shocked myself completely,” said Kanaye, who did not at all expect to be the top student in the district.
He said his strategy was to stay calm, keep his mind collected and not allow himself to stress too much.
These pupils’ results are particularly special with nearly half of Ilembe’s matrics failing their National Senior Certificate exams.
