The service delivery protest that caused the N2 to be closed for six and a half hours yesterday at Groutville has continued from where it left off yesterday.
KDM SAPS station commander, Col Mdumseni Nene said protesters have regrouped on the N2 south of the Umvoti toll plaza and the road is closed.
However, the public order police along with increased SAPS man power are dispersing the mob from the highway and it should not take long for the road to be reopened.
“The N2 will be open again soon but the Groutville link road between the N2 and the R102 will remain closed and people should use alternative routes.”
He said the link road should be avoided until the situation has been contained.
