SAVE your pets for free

Furever Pet Rescue calls you and your pet to come to Shayamoya‘s open hall gym (off Glendale Road) from 10am till 2pm this Sunday for their SAVE programme – sterilise, assist, vaccinate, educate.

Furever Pet Rescue’s Ian Blignaut said this is their second pet sterilisation project, which they run to help underprivileged pet owners and their pets.

“We are finding it harder and harder to home our rescued animals and this project aims to solve the main causes that lead to abused and unwanted animals. We hope with this project we can prevent rather than cure,” said Blignaut

“We have a few sponsors who have committed to the project for three years and plan to have one every three months in different townships on the North Coast.”

At the last project in Etete, they sterilized 30 dogs and three cats, vaccinated 75 dogs and 10 cats, and provided food parcels to all animal owners on the day.

“We also managed to treat a third of the dogs for mange, ticks and fleas. All puppies and dogs were given de-worming tablets.”

He said dogs and cats were ferried by volunteers on the day and the following week to Aloe & Ballito Vet, who donated time and equipment for the sterilisations.

“We raised funds to pay for the vaccinations and other treatment and Hills donated food, and Verbac donated de-worming tablets for that day’s project.”
