Secretary general of the African National Congress youth league, Njabulo Nzuza, said the youth should take over their party to ensure that the policies of the ANC are implemented faster.
Speaking at the KwaDukuza Town Hall, during the ANCYL lecture on Friday night June 10, Nzuza said there is a great need for economic freedom and free education.
“Running the country politically and not economically, does not represent even a shade of democracy. We need economic freedom in our life time,” said Nzuza.
He said that the country needs a state bank, that will enable the young people to open their own businesses.
“The banks we have make it very difficult for the South African people to get funding for their businesses,” said Nzuza.
He said the policies of the ANC show that economy can be brought back to the people of South Africa. However, the slow pace of implementation of the policies is the curse of the implementation.
“So we need young people in the ANC leadership so that they will ensure that the implementation is done faster,” said Nzuza.
He said that free education is a policy of the ANC and the fees must fall protests, were actually demanding ANC policy.
KZN ANCYL secretary Thanduxolo Sabela emphasised the importance of unity in the party and blamed unemployment for conflict in the ANC.
“Being a councillor has become a job instead of being a public servant. Therefore people are taking it as a source of income,” said Sabela.
He condemned political violence in the province and urged members of the ANC to respect the leadership of the party, for the dignity of the ANC.
“We do not respect only Zuma but the party as a whole,” said Sabela.
