Specialist rescue saves buried construction worker’s life, North Coast
Following a technical rescue under difficult conditions, a man was freed and transported to hospital.
A man’s life was saved when emergecy services united to rescue him from being buried under sand and stone on a construction site.
At about 10.30am this morning, IPSS Medical Rescue was dispatched to a trench collapse at a construction site on the North Coast.
“On arrival it was established that a man had become engulfed by soil, entrapping him from the neck down, in red clay sand and stone,” said IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst.
“Witnesses reported that and his colleagues had dug around his head to allow him to breathe. The workers were digging when the foundation collapsed.”
A number of emergency teams joined to do an intense rescue.
“Following a very technical rescue under challenging circumstances, the man was freed and transported to hospital.
“Well done to all services on scene. We wish the man a speedy recovery,” said Herbst.
