Chaka’s Rock holiday flats flooded by sewage

The bottom units and the outside areas were ankle-deep in sewage water.

The much-needed heavy rains on Monday brought a stinky mess to the residents of Chaka Isles in Chaka’s Rock, as the bottom units were flooded with sewage water.

Managing agent and resident of Chaka Isles, Norman Parnell, said the water coming into the flats was about ankle deep.

“The whole unit two was full of water and raw sewage.

“Unit one and three had sewage water bubbling out of the toilet bowls.

“The stench inside the flats is unbearable and there are raw sewage and tampons lying everywhere.”

“We have holidaymakers arriving today to stay in one of the units, but we cannot let them spend the night in the stinking apartment,” said Parnell.

He said while Sembcorp Siza Water sent their cleaning team to sort out the mess today, a solution must be found to avoid this from happening again.

The courtyard was filled with tampons and other used sanitary products after the heavy rain.
