Hazelmere Dam update
The gazetted water restrictions will continue to be enforced until the dam is at least 60 per cent full.
The Hazelmere Dam level is at 53.09 per cent today (Tuesday, August 2) an nice increase from 50.13 per cent measured on Thursday, July 28 and 43.07 per cent measured on Tuesday, July 19.
“While this represents a slight improvement in water resources, it is not sufficient to meet the pre-drought demands of iLembe District Municipality and eThekwini Metro. Therefore, reduction of 50 per cent in potable water production at Hazelmere Water Treatment Plant and mandatory water restrictions of 50 per cent on consumers who receive water from this water treatment plant will remain in place,” said Umgeni Water spokesperson, Shami Harichunder.
