First concrete donation for Hospice

We are so grateful to be able to get out fundraising off to such a great start" - Thilo Naidoo

Just two weeks after acquiring land from KwaDukuza Municipality, the Dolphin Coast Hospice received their first donation toward the construction of their first in-patient facility from the Ballito Lions Club and Ballito Autohaus.

A generous amount of R10 000 was raised by the Lions Club’s breast cancer walk last year and was donated on behalf of Ballito Autohaus.

The Dolphin Coast Hospice is a non-profit organisation that has been operating for 14 years. The facility provides care to terminally ill patients, relying completely on donations, sponsorship and volunteers to help the terminally ill to die with dignity.

Ballito Autohaus, dealer principal and chairman of the Lions Club, Paul Naidoo said he was happy that hospice was finally being built.

“Hospice is greatly needed in KwaDukuza. We are very happy to be helping a local organisation and keeping the money within the area.

“This hospice is going to be of great importance to the community. Too often we forget about the old and frail. It is sad because they are the ones who have dedicated their lives to building and providing for their communities,” he said.

Dolphin Coast Hospice fund-raiser, Thilo Naidoo said there have been a few pledges and offers of construction material but that this was the first concrete donation.

“We are so grateful to be able to get out fundraising off to such a great start. We are planning various fund-raising events and we hope that the community will assist us to build the much needed care facility.”
