At the monthly Ilembe Chamber Women in Business (WIB) Networking morning held at the Zucca Restaurant in the Simbithi Business Park, Inspirational and motivational speaker, Lesa Bradshaw gave her audience a humorous, insightful account of what it had been like growing up with the genetic condition, Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Her catch phrase “aspire to inspire – before you expire” revealed her ability to make the most out of life.

Today, Lesa is an accomplished activist in disability integration, and runs a successful HR consulting business, with her specialty being disability in the work place.

Lesa was last month’s recipient of the Ilembe Chamber Margaret Hirsch Woman in Business award, which was won this month, by Ashleigh Tutt, the founder and owner of BizziB Banting, a company that sells banting food and condiments.

Ashleigh will be the guest speaker at the next Ilembe Chamber Women In Business Networking morning at Hirsch’s Ballito on September 8.

Veronica O’Dwyer, a lawyer with Wiesinger O’Dwyer Incorporated, who heads up the WIB steering committee, encouraged local business women to join the chamber as a vehicle to help them with their business.

She also encouraged them to nominate themselves or an associate for the Ilembe Chamber, Margaret Hirsch Woman in Business Achiever award. For more information on the award, contact nicole@hirschs.co.za

Doreen Yengwe who has been an integral part of Ithemba Labasha, the centre for underprivileged children and unemployed youth in Shaka’s Head, was recognised for her unstinting commitment to her job, and the children in her community.

She was presented with the Hirsch’s Heroine Award which, to celebrate Women’s Month, is being given to a local heroine in each community in which Hirsch’s operates.

“We wanted to award women in the community who often don’t get the recognition they deserve, and we are delighted to hand over a certificate of recognition and gift voucher from Hirsch’s to Doreen for her service to the community,” said Hirsch’s PR Consultant, Glenda Thompson.
