Protest action disrupts traffic at Mvoti toll and in Durban

The municipal elections have come and gone, but protest action continues to disrupt traffic both on the North Coast and in Durban.

According to KwaDukuza SAPS spokesperson, Johannes Khoza, the Thembeni people were unhappy about the murder and attempted murder incident that took place there last Saturday.
A 4o year-old man was shot and killed and one was injured at Thembeni Tavern.
“They are not happy with the way the case was handled, because one man was arrested but was later released,” said Khoza.
He said the matter is still under investigation and they will do all in their power to ensure that the person who committed the crime gets arrested.
According to Northglen News, riots have flared up along North Coast and Sea Cow Lake Roads this morning, and people are urged to avoid the area.
Warrant officer Leon Audh, of the Greenwood Park SAPS said the violence in the area is the result of a route dispute between two taxi associations. The roads have been barricaded with dust bins and burning debris.
He confirmed that one person had been shot.
“The injured man was rushed to hospital when police arrived at the scene,” he said.
Audh, said while the situation is currently calm police are still on scene and will monitor the situation.
