Cellphones and laptops targeted in a spate of Dolphin Coast burglaries
Umhlali police reported six burglaries over the weekend.
Umhlali SAPS attended to six break-ins this past weekend; two at Seaward Estates, two in Ballito and two in Etete.
Cellphones and laptops seem to be the burglars’ favoured haul.
An Etete resident was stabbed on his right arm and his Bosch drill was taken from his garage on Friday while at another house in Etete, jewelry, money and a cellphone was taken.
Two Seaward Estate houses were broken into on Saturday. A Seaward Estate resident woke up on Saturday morning, to find that his house had been burgled and his iPhone, iPad and laptop had been stolen. In the second house break-in a cellphone and laptop were stolen.
Two Ballito homes were burgled on Sunday. Two laptops, cellphones and keys were stolen from a house in Warren Heights, and a laptop was taken from a house in Ashley Road on Sunday night.
Umhlali SAPS urge residents and holidaymakers not to leave valuable items in their cars when they are going out the beach.
Surfers are urged not to hide their keys in the sand because people are observing their moves and cars are at greater risks of being stolen.
Parents must make sure their children are taken care of when they are not with them.
