Celebrating the sweetest day of the year
"It is amazing to see how the whole community gets involved to help these brave little patients" - Founder of Cupcakes of Hope Sandy Cipriano.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
This year National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer will be held on Saturday September 24 at 63 participating malls across the country inlcuding Ballito Lifestyle Centre.
Cupcakes of Hope is a non-profit company that aims to create awareness and raise funds for children with cancer through their love of baking cupcakes.
Last year Cupcakes of Hope raised R1.5 million on National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer.
This money has helped more than 500 patients by paying for their medical or other day–to–day expenses.
Cupcakes of Hope also spoils patients on their birthdays and organizes special ‘end of treatment’ surprises.
Sandy Cipriano, founder of Cupcakes of Hope, said, “It is amazing to see how the whole community gets involved to help these brave little patients.”
On September 24, people can visit any participating mall where, for a R10 donation, they will receive a delicious cupcake that has been made with love.
Although the main fund-raising event happens in September, Cupcakes of Hope holds awareness events throughout the year.
Schools, companies and individuals can also host their own Party of Hope by registering online.
Once registered, they will receive a free Angel Party Pack that includes awareness pamphlets, baking cups, badges and balloon – everything you need to prepare for your Party of Hope.
“We invite young and old to become Cupcake Angels, it’s by far the SWEETEST way to save a life!” said Party of Hope coordinator, Michelle Larsen.
As September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we will kick off the month by hosting National Cupcake for Breakfast Day on 1 September.
On this day, we will celebrate the lives of all our cancer heroes: those who are currently fighting the battle, those who have beaten cancer and those who have lost their battle.
They will never be forgotten and their memories will live with us always.
#CupcakeForMyHero Cupcakes of Hope has designed an infographic to help educate parents on the early warning signs of childhood cancer.
This is now available in 16 languages on their website – www.cupcakesofhope.org.
“It is so important for parents to know what to look out for because early detection can save a child’s life,” said Cipriano
